CrownPeak Announces Integrated Support for Google’s Open Social

Comprehensive Capabilities Enable Direct Integration With Google Widgets and Other Social Networking and Online Communities

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 16, 2008) –

CrownPeak (, the company defining the future of content management, today announced how it is the first web Content Management software as a service (SaaS) to announce support for many of the new social networking standards — especially Google’s Open Social, Google Gadgets and other content published for inclusion on social networking sites.

CrownPeak now enables customers to create, customize and then deploy rich Internet applications from CrownPeak CMS. These applications are ready-to-use by the customer’s Web site visitors for inclusion on popular business and consumer social networking applications such as, Ning, orkut, Facebook, MySpace, and others.

Already live are dozens of applications which can be integrated and published by CrownPeak CMS customers. A city magazine publisher, for example, can publish a Google Gadget of the top ten rated restaurants from their magazine — and their subscribers could include this content on their own portals, blogs, communities or social networking profiles.

Or, CrownPeak customers wanting to create their own social networking communities can utilize low cost alternatives to communities such as Ning or Orkut and have fully integrated content, completely managed by CrownPeak CMS.

“We’re excited to be working with our customers on the convergence of social networking and web content management,” said Jim Howard, CEO of CrownPeak. “Our enterprise integration capabilities have separated us from the competition for some time. Extending these integrations into mashup-style applications offers great opportunities for our smaller and medium sized business customers to offer powerful communication methods very inexpensively.”

The benefits of adding this support available from within CrownPeak CMS include:

CrownPeak Customers have increased access to a new set of Web-based communities and social networks. By enabling the ability to publish Web 2.0 style information such as XML, Open Social Applications and/or Google Gadgets, CrownPeak Customers can get much broader coverage for their content than just their Web site. Their content can be immediately included on every popular social networking community that accepts the new standards.

CrownPeak Customers looking for low cost and easy to deploy community solutions such as Ning, or orkut can now easily include content managed by CrownPeak CMS within their community. For example, Customers can manage subscribers, forums and user profiles through the Ning interface, but centralize and manage the content for that community directly from CrownPeak CMS.

CrownPeak Customers looking to create customized or unique Google Gadgets or Open Social based applications, can work with CrownPeak’s award- winning services group to create new, rich interactive applications, and deploy them seamlessly using CrownPeak CMS.

While Google’s Open Social standard is fairly new, the stated goal for the standard is “for any social Web site to be able to implement the APIs and host 3rd party social applications.” Many social networking sites have announced their intention to support the standard, including LinkedIn, MySpace, Ning, Oracle, orkut, Plaxo,, Six Apart, Tianji, Viadeo, and XING.penSocial.

“All of these new applications and integrations are the perfect complement to software delivered as a service,” said CrownPeak CEO Jim Howard. “Our goal has always been to help our customers manage their content easily and successfully. By supporting these standards, and integrations into these increasingly popular social networking tools — our customers are better enabled to transform their online content strategy and, in turn, achieve business success.”
